Felt stars and a navy ribbon.
I bought a styrofoam wreath at the dollar store and some red felt at Jo-Ann's and started cutting stars . . .
Unfortunately, these 2 stacks didn't even cover half of it. My hands were so tired from tracing and cutting stars so this wreath actually took me about 5 days to do. I took some quilting pins and pushed them through the center of the star and then attached them to the wreath. You can't really tell they are stars when it's all done, but I like the spikes.
Then I attached the navy ribbon and cut out some white stars from craft foam and glued them on the ribbon.
I love it - and it's been a while since I did a craft without inspiration from someone else's ideas . . .
I'm linked up to . . .
It was well worth the time it took because it turned out great!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks great! This is the kind of craft perfect for evenings after my kiddos go to bed and my hubby is at work or doing school work! I love it! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteIt turned out so cute girlie! That really finished it off smartly with the blue and white! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I think I'm going to make one that I can hang out during college football season with our alma mater on it instead of the white stars.
ReplyDeleteWOW, it turned out great!
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE MY CRAFTY INSPIRATION!!!
:)
Oh I love it. I just made felt food and am on a felt kick. Not sure If I'd have time or the patience to cut out all the stars. I wonder how it would look if I did strips? What do you think?
ReplyDeleteMaybe try cutting squares and pinning them n the middle?
DeleteThis is sooo cute! How big are your stars? I totally am going to make this. I think having the pokey ends really adds to this.
ReplyDeleteOh wow!! This is amazing!!!! I am soooo impressed!!!

I can't believe you cut all those stars!! It turned out SO good! I LOVE IT! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI love this wreath!! Of course I am a sucker for stars and red white and blue! It is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhoa that's a lot of stars.. and cutting...! But it's great! Happy Fourth!
ReplyDelete5 days? Wow you are patient. I am not patient enough to stay with it that long. One of the things that changed my crafting life was getting the Big Shot Express. Oh my gosh! You can put 5 layers of fabric in it and it cuts it in nothing flat. Even cardboard. It is amazing and such a time saver. I just bought a star die cut and can't wait to use it for my 4th of July crafts. I am not associated with this product, lol, I just love passing on tricks of the trade that I learn.
ReplyDeleteLove this wreath! It would look so dang cute in my entry.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing!
Simply GORGEOUS! I Love this! Fantastic job - fabulous idea! Hope you have a wonderful holiday! ~ Stephanie Lynn

I really like your take on this wreath. The blue ribbon with white starts is so pretty, you could use that idea in a lot of places as well. I'd love if you'd consider linking up with Fabric Fun Thursday :).

That is GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteHow did you attatch it to the wreath? Is it on grapevine or foam?

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! I am going to copy your idea for my door!!! It's just sooo pretty!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI am soooo in love!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw this on One Pretty Thing. Very nice, you did a great job!
ReplyDeleteI just want to let you know that I'll be featuring your wreath tomorrow on my blog... You did an amazing job!
ReplyDeleteI am not a very big fan of most of the 4th of July decor (probably because I am a Dutch girl in the US - it's a cultural thing) but this I would hang on my door. It's stunning!
ReplyDeleteI was also wondering how big are the stars you used?
ReplyDeleteIn case anyone isn't up to cutting the stars... just cut small squares of red felt/fabric with pinking shears. I have made wreaths very similar like that and they come out cute!
ReplyDeleteThey were about 2.5 inches.
ReplyDeletecould you give me a bit of step by step instructions for your ribbon and bow? is it 2 different pieces? It is so classy. It has a very neat and tidy appearance! I made a rag wreath not too long ago and I still need to add the ribbon.
ReplyDeleteHi! I wanted to find out...if you know....about how many stars we are looking at here...I really love this and would like to try and make it but not sure if I have it in me or not! Also about what size wreath is this shown! I really do love this! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAimee...it was a 12 inch wreath form, and I have no idea how many stars I cut out. It was at least 200, but it could have been 300 or more. I didn't keep count. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteva love - yes, the bow/ribbon was 2 pieces. I made the loop to go around the wreath and then tied a simple bow and glued it on the loop.
ReplyDeleteStunning wreath! You did a great job. I plan to feature it on my blog post on patriotic wreaths with a link back to your blog. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adorable! How did you pin on all those stars? Di you just stick the pins into the wreath?
ReplyDeleteStop making such cute stuff! I have so many projects I want to do, I don't know where to start. I love the wreath!!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!! Keep up the good work...
ReplyDeleteI know all about those crafts that end up taking longer than anticipated. This wreath really turned out well and it looks fabulous. :-)
ReplyDeleteI this is super cute!! Hopefully I can find the drive to make one myself!
ReplyDeleteHi, just found your wreath via Pinterest, after several clicks to find the original owner - it's very pretty!

LOVE this wreath! I never do anything patriotic in my seasonal decor because it all seems so... busy I guess? But this is totally understated & NON-TACKY!!! Thanks so much for posting this! I plan to recreate on my front door & am headed to get supplies. Could you give me a ballpark idea of how much red felt it took to cover your wreath in stars so I will know how much to buy??? Thanks again!
